The Sacramento Zoo’s Exciting Transformation

For nearly a century, the Sacramento Zoo has been a beloved destination for families, offering generations of children the opportunity to connect with wildlife from around the world. However, as times change, so too must our beloved zoo. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce the visionary plans for a new zoo experience in Elk Grove that will take animal conservation and visitor engagement to unprecedented heights!

Why Change is Essential

The Sacramento Zoo, with its current 14.7-acre footprint, is facing challenges that limit its ability to provide optimal habitats for its animal residents. Aging infrastructure and space constraints have led to a decline in the variety of species that call the zoo home. But fear not, because change is on the horizon!

Introducing the Vision for a Wild Tomorrow

The Sacramento Zoological Society has been hard at work developing plans for a new, state-of-the-art zoo in Elk Grove. This new zoo will not only address the current limitations of the Sacramento Zoo but will also set a new standard for zoological parks worldwide.

What to Expect from the New Zoo

Imagine strolling through expansive savannas, where giraffes gracefully roam and lions bask in the sun. Picture immersive habitats that transport you to the wilds of Africa, complete with opportunities for up-close encounters with some of Earth’s most magnificent creatures.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! The new zoo will feature after-hours dining, overnight camping opportunities, adventure play areas for children, and so much more. It’s not just a zoo; it’s an immersive experience that will inspire wonder and ignite a passion for conservation in visitors of all ages.
